I don't intend to go on at length about this, but I would like to comment as positively as I may.

Briefly, though an agnostic, I have to side with the Bishop of Burnley on this issue: (see link below)

I am aware that there are sects within Islam, as there are within Christianity.
Can I ask which sect is promoting this application? Does it regard itself as progressive?

My great hope is that objections will come in from Islamic people, otherwise I see potential for serious conflict.

I can see that if the application is granted it will play into the hands of the BNP, yet to refuse it would lead to an appeal with costs and controversy involved.

Therefore I ask Muslims themselves to resolve this difficult situation, otherwise we are all of us into deep trouble, which could make us the focus of national media attention!
