| I'm on dial-up 56k modem, been having problems since I got new PC, but can't find anything wrong at my end. Asked BT to turn the gain up on the line but still same speed (around 28kbps) - zzzzzzz! Been told I might be on a ..erm...forgotten the term now, but in effect it's a split line with half the capacity - anyone know about this stuff - 'cos the isp and BT are keeping their cards close to their chest it seems. ![]() |

| although saying that..on dial up even though your sposed to get 56k its more usual to get round about 28k like youre getting. try here to see if you can improve anything. http://www.computers4sure.com/speed.asp? |

| I'm on AOL dial up. 7.0 it's a bit hit and miss,many times it just stops for no reason and cuts me off. I think it's a ploy to get us to go on broadband but it's a windows 98 pc and i do'nt see the point. Is it worth going on broadband? ![]() |
