does anyone have any idea why my internet connection will only last for about a minute, then it will disconnect it self.

i'm on bt broadband,i'm not shure if it's my computer that's packing in,

it's running on xp.

Does your modem connect through your phone line?

When does it appear to be worse, or does it do it all the time?

You don't have home alarm monitoring do you that runs through your phone line or ADSL?

my modem does connect through the phone line,

it does it more or less all the time,

i'm very lucky if i get 15 mins without having to re-dial,

sometimes i can connect straight away and others my modem says it's in the training mode,if that happens it's anything from 1 hr to 1 day before i can get back on.

Try this:

Unplug your modem with power lead
Restart your computer
Re-connect power to the modem and wait 30 seconds or so
Connect to the internet

See if the simple thing solves it first....
