| [quote=slinky;106067]Hahaha but seriously......................... it depends on the age of the sibling, my friend is 20 soon and her real father and step mum wanted her there at he birth of her little sister. I thought this was lovely.....I thinks it can bring step siblings and half siblings together more!!!! Eeeeeew, I think that would be so gross...but that is just me......I wouldn't want to be looking up either my Mums old address.....or stepmums either.....and I am speaking as an ex - gynae nurse here. I think I would find it embarassing in the extreme. |

| I was there when my younger sister gave birth to my nephew.......and before I went in I thought " eeeeeeeewwwwwww thats gross". BUT!!! if her bits were put on show right now with 3 other womens I couldn't tell you which was which. Watching a birth is magical...........and even though I would have preferred to be doing it myself than watching my sister in so much pain, it is the most moving thing I have seen. I CRIED BUCKETS!!!!! |

I have given birth myself twice.....and that is the most brilliant thing a women will ever do..........but watching it happen is magical too.....and I guess I see what my hubby saw and felt like now!!! |

| My husband was there when I had my first but there was a complication with my second as she was born early as a sort of by-product of another op I had to have so he couldn't be there for that. It seemed logical for him to be there because he was part of the creation process.

| Well......I only did it once......didn't enjoy being pregnant.....Labour wasn't bad....but HELL, there is just NO WAY I wanted anyone who knew me within a 100yards of me at that time....... it was the most ungainly, unedifying experience ever...and as for Hubby watching...HELL NO! I watched many births during my time as a nurse.....I was always happy that the women came through it OK, but I never really felt that moved by it all....Like i say I maybe just a bit strange that way. I'm not a particularly maternal person.....if that explains it. |

| May I just add my friends step mother had a home birth to keep it as natural as possible ( I mean we all know natural goes out the window in a hospital) She wanted 3 people there!! her husband, daughter and step daughter ( my friend). Also i have a friend who's daughter is due anytime time now!!! and she will be there when her daughter gives birth. |

| I suppose if all parties are comfortable with the arrangements then it is Ok.....but I'll be in the kitchen boiling the water and making sure the towels are warmed ![]() |

I didnt think a joke could cause such a debate!:hidewall: |

| Yeah Mercury, but it is a good debate....and often the best way to stimulate a debate is to make fun of the situation.....when in life, it isn't a fun subject at all. |
