| Good afternoon to you all. I have found this website as I was searching the internet to try to find information about evacuees to Brierfield in the second World War. My sister Rose and I were evacuated from Bexley in Kent in 1944 and stayed at the home of Mr and Mrs George Ward and their two sons David and Alan. I am fairly sure that the address was Railway Terrace in Brierfield and Mr George Ward was a policeman and Mrs Quita [?] Ward played the accordian in a dance band. I am trying to fill some gaps in my family history and if their is anybody out there who could help me or direct me as to where I might find some information about this time I would be very grateful My very best wishes to you all Michael Hickman |

I was wondering if you have a photograph of Railway Terrace because that would add nicely to my family history. The other thing that my sister and I are trying to track down is the name of the school that we may have attended if we were living at Railway Terrace, in 1944 I would have been around 9years and my sister 12. I do appreciate your reply and your offer of help. Regards Michael |

School would have depended if it was Catholic or not. The nearest junior school to there at the time was the catholic junior school which was Holy Trinity. They have built a new one now further away and the old one has been demolished. The other junior school then would have been Walter St school which was round the corner and is still going. The secondary school may have been Mansfield. It changed it's name last year, before then it was Mansfield High School but in the 40's I beleive it was called Mansfield Comprehensive School. |

| Hello again everybody and just a thank you to all of you who have replied to my posting. It is very encouraging and I am still hopeful of filling in a gap in my life where unfortunately my memory is vague. It was such an important part of my sister's and my life that it would be wonderful if these postings fill a few gaps. Michael |
