Default O'reet!

Howdo all, Quazi here.
I joined ages ago but my computer had a breakdown just afterwards so I haven't been back for ages, and now I'm here, I realised that I never introduced myself.
I'm a local musician who has been playing in bands for around 23 years.
I was the lead singer for Slack Babbath (Black Sabbath tribute band) until we split (we'll be back) and I like short drinks and tall women.

O'reet Quazi! Welcome to the board, You'll know Cooky then being in Slack Babbath? I know him from school and see him in The Carlton on my rare ventures into town.

Heh heh, me and Cooky put a new band together recently (currently going under the project name of "Phi") with a couple of the guys from Depon Eye so I see him every week at rehearsils.

welcome Quazi, wheres the name from? Do you think there is any interest in rock bands in Burnley? Had Vera Cruz on at the Circ and it went down like a lead balloon, and I thought they were quite good, some people who left early said we would have filled the place with Slack Alice, have you heard of them? Also where do all you bands practice, we have big room available three or four times a week, holds 300, and were thinking of trying a jam night but not sure how to go about it.

Hi Ollie.
The name is just a silly version of Ozzy Osbourne because I was a member of a Black Sabbath tribute.
Yeah, there's a hell of a lot of interest in rock bands in Burnley. I organise Quazfest every August at the Keirby Hotel, infact, as it happens, I'm thinking of changing venues this year for something a little better. We usually put a couple of well established, good quality tribute bands on (expect to pay around £250-£400 each for these) as headliners then fill the rest of the bill up with the best local talent available plus stalls selling appropriate stuff for rock fans. It works really well and we fill the place every year, all day, with serious beer drinkers and the Hotel owners do quite well off the bar takings.
Hmmmm, Vera Cruz, I've heard of them, but I suspect a lot of people around here haven't, which probably explains why you had a poor turn out. Slack Alice are a much better known band but would only attract the older market. (that's why tribute bands work so well at attracting audiences, if nobody has heard of the band, at least they've heard of the band that they are a tribute to. At Quazfest we try and put something on for all ages and tastes in rock. music because it attracts a wider ranged audience.
Funny you should mention Led Balloon because they're headlining Quazfest 2005. :)
I'll PM you my phone number, give me a bell and we'll talk about the jam night.
