I diet every Winter Angel, I started on sept 24th, I was 14 stone 9 pounds (I still use old money not into metric) By 21ST Dec I had dropped to 12 stone 11 pounds. over Christmas I put 9 ounds on but have lost about 7 since. Living on my own during the week its easy for me to los weight, so I diet for 5 days and eat normally at weekends includng beer Wine toffee, but it works for me. my dailly diet is full grapefruit, yakult cornflackes or rice crispies for brakefast, apple and babana for lunch, rivita and either philladelphi or cottage cheese about 5 then a cuppa soup at 8 and I do lose weight

I have been trying to lose weight for years and failing miserably no matter how I approached it.
Last summer I was feeling so desperate that I turned to a meal replacement (initially Herbalife but now the one distributed by Melaleuca for which I am an agent.) I have a heck of a lot to lose and it's been slow going but it has been going and that has cheered me up no end. I do eat normal food as well for one meal a day and at weekends it gets a little bit complex as our meal times are at odd times. That's mainly because we leave for church at 10am and often don't get home until 3pm or later. I had a set back too because I was being swapped about between different medication none of which was working properly and I have terrible water retention problems. So far I've only lost 2 and a half stone over those six months which is less than half a stone a month but there was the set back of Christmas in there. If I can lose another 2 and a half by this summer I'll really feel like I'm getting somewhere and can have some hope that by the following year I can be something like a normal human being. I'm also hoping it might help the water retention problem which still isn't under control despite the new medication but at least now the GP takes me seriously.

I don't know what the Cambridge diet is. Sounds like it could be similar. To be perfectly honest I wouldn't mind if I had to stay on it for the rest of my life if the result is that I can keep my weight down and feel fitter. The past few years have driven me up the wall. I do get one decent meal a day anyway and just need to make sure I don't go mad and eat junk.

I try not to eat bread as it blows me up! Take cold fish fingers, to work with a salad. I eat fish as often as i can , love fresh tuna. I miss having a few drinks but find its not worth it as i feel so rotten the following day. I have put weight on after the stroke but hope it comes off as i walk around alot at work Also because the weather has been so rotten not been out walking. All in all i didnt really get out much from last June so my skin isnt very good so must eat more fruit thesedays!

like you Kiki I am hoping for some decent weather. Three years we have had a studio in this mill, and I have jut this week found my way through the maze of tiny streets to get to the path that goes onto it.
Now I just need a bit of dry warmer weather to get striding across the tops. |

I want to try doing some more walking if and when the weather picks up. I was really struggling until recently with aches and pains but improving and I'm sure getting a bit more fresh air and excercise will help no end. If only it would stop raining for a bit.

It is awfully difficult isn't it Poppy. I was quite podgy as a 16 year old and spied a picture in the local Observer at a 'Beatnik' dance in a barn for the local Youth Club .. that did it, lost 2 1/2 stone over a year, never slipped back much since then.
Was no weight watchers, just carried a little calorie counting book around with me. Basically, though just cut out sugars .. you know, cakes, biscuits, sweets, sugar in beverages (always use sweeteners now)... well, I did used to put three sugars in me coffee !! Very rarely eat bread or potatoes. Has just become a way of life for me now and love meat and loads of veg., salads with even some pizza or steak, etc. Never snack in between meals. My worst culprit, of course, is the wine !! Hummph, not giving that up! Lots of luck everyone .. hard to say no at first, but does get easier. |

Ive walked five miles today which is the most i have done for months. Then come in and put a chicken in for supper, had half an hours doze. Not done so many roast potato,s with it this time. I do feel tired but the rain kept off. So plan to do more walking and less unhealthy eating. Bought some dry ginger ale rather than wine!

I think in our heart of hearts we all know which foods put the inches on our hips .. just slimming clubs do encourage and support you more. Do have the will power to say no to chocolates Angel, but giving up the fags is my area of weakness .. well done on that. |
