http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...74&expand=true I am one week into replacing prescription painkillers with rose hip extract and am very impressed so far. My arthritis is osteo arthritis but it is recommended for Rheumatoid arthritis too. I am one of those people whose pain has not been under control since Co-praxomol distalgesics were withdrawn from Nhs prescriptions - doc gave me Solpadol (codeine and paracetemol) to which I became addicted and wrecked. (Codeine is the addictive part.) I went cold turkey from that a few months ago - (was like having flu for a week - but worth it not to be a zombie) Since then I have been on paracetemol only which hardly eased pain at all. There are other painkillers which docs can prescribe but for people with robust stomachs (not me). I have a keen interest in herbalism and have been seeking herbal pain control for a long time and seem to have found it, so I want to spread the word here. Note - I am not an employee or investor in any herbal remedy company and there are several brands to choose from - I have not named which one I take (not spamming you - just trying to be helpful)

| I am a great believer in natural remedies rather than chemical concoctions and I do try to use them myself so it's useful to know of something which benefits others. I currently drink dandelion coffee in the hope of it ridding me of my water retention but it isn't particularly effective with me despite doing a grand job for a friend of mine. If anybody can recommend an alternative I'd be pleased to hear about it.

I use Glucosamine tablets for my creaky joints. I have to say that I was very sceptical about its efficacy...but it does seem to work for me. I have had joint pains in my hips and knees ever since I went through the menopause.......it was never diagnosed as Arthritis, but my GP did say something about menopausal arthritis (i didn't have any tests to confirm arthritis)...I was put onto Voltarol to start off with and then when the practices were managing their own budgets i was changed to the generic Diclofenac.......and found this to be less effective (OK......I know it shouldn't be, but it is). I started on glucosamine about 18 months ago for ease from a frozen shoulder....and found an immediate improvement....not just in my shoulder, but my hips and knees too. I would not be without it now.

I have got my Glucosamine out of the cupboard again to give it another try now - I don't think I gave it a fair trial before -I have read it can take a few months before benefits can be felt. As for the rosehip tea, I have just had a grocery delivery this week so wont be having another for 2 weeks, but I have looked on the Asda website and they dont appear there - will have to look on the old faithful ebay for a supply - or make a shopping trip (heaven forbid - hate shopping trips)

I am sure there was an advert recently in the Mail for Rosehip capsules.......OK, I know that isn't Tea, but maybe the capsules are more effective. I would google to see where you could get a supply. Do Holland and Barrett have a website? I'm sure I have seen the teabags in their shops.

I am on the capsules - got them from a herb supplies website - just thought I'd try the tea as well. The capsules are BIG -I break them open and sprinkle the contents into my kefir.

Holland and barrett do have a web site......but Goldshield have an offer on at the moment....... Glucosamine, Trumeric and Rose hips all in one capsule.......should be £20 a tub....but on trial offer for £1.99. I'll go back and check on what they are called and how amny you get for your money. I checked out the sites for rosehip tea too.....most were american. back in a mo'

Glucox - they contain glucosamine, green tea, oregano and rose hip......2 tablets a day...and you get 60 tablets in the tub. They also do Rosehip extract - 400mg, they are £8.95 and both can be bought online and you can earn points to exchange for gifts. Goldshield is the site you want to check out these products. Oh, I should say that I have no affiliation to the company and this is not advertising or spam...just trying to help a fellow member.

The ones I am taking are 750 mg and named Litozin - I will check out that website and compare prices - thanks for your effort on my behalf - appreciated

I have bookmarked that Goldshield site for future ref. Here is where I bought the ones I am using http://www.quickvit.co.uk/product_in...oducts_id=2214 At £16.49 for 120 and as stronger concentration they work out cheaper, but these places are always having special offers so I always check around before I buy. For most of the supplements I take, I use Healthspan -tax free from Guernsey, but they dont do Rosehip. As soon as the weather picks up I will take bus trip to Fleetwood market- where I will be able to buy the tea (and mockcrocs)
