Default ATM's should they charge?

MP's are wanting clear lableing about the charges for ATM's,some charge a fee to withdraw your money, the banks made £140million on these ATM's ,what do you think?
The banks say only 4% of cash machines charge a fee,but is this the start?
You find them in pub's petrol stations even in Arcades! The bank say we pay for the service, Do you not mind?
I'm lucky, we have a few banks in Cleveleys and are an easy walk away, but do you live near a bank? Why should you pay a fee to get your own money when you are in credit?

I think rip off Britain is all coming again.
Some machines do charge these include in pubs and shops.
£1.50 per transaction is scandalous. These institutions make enough money out of us as it is.
Most machines will tell you of a charge before you get your cash,i think they have to by law,but if you want to prove me wrong you can.

good for you gc, but seriously Cleveleys and Blackpool have more of the bloody machines than we do, cause they know you get a lot of day visitors there and they need ready cash which is why they are strategically placed in off licences and amusement arcades, not that I go in any of these places you understand. Honestly I dont. Please feed my petz or play with him. Thank you:)

If I want my money I use my banks ATM for free.

If I'm out & away from my bank I could use the link system.
yes I'll pay for the convinence.

Otherwise I have to plan & take enough with me.
Or, nip to Asda & buy a bog roll or something I need anyway & get cashback, there are enough 24hr supermarkets doing this.

If there is an ATM where there would normally not be one, like in a pub or a shop then yes IMO a small charge should be paid otherwise that ATM would not be there.

If it's a small village community we are talking about then that's the contentious issue, the ones where the bank closed shop & left.

They should all display any charges before you use them.

Banks,Insurance,Oil companies, lawyers, they are all bl....dy thieves and you know why they get away with it? You have no choice but to use their services.
Here in Canada, they have just published a report on government jobs that pay over $100,000 a year. The electric company has just announced an increase of 10 per cent and yet there are 6,000 people working for them that are paid over the $100,000 a year. The big man gets $1,500,000 a year. Because they know people have no option that if they want electric they have to pay for it,they can charge what the hell they want! I was well paid in my job as a machinist, but this guy is getting 30 times what I used to get. Now I'm no brain surgeon but I think I am a reasonably intelligent person. I know that no man on earth is 30 times smarter that I am. Added to the fact if he gets fired like the previous boss,he will get a couple of million severence pay.
