Spam Monkeys.

The points you get for posting is a great idea, but if a Spam Monkey thinks putting posts of little or no merit on a just to gain points is a bad one. I think the more punters that come on to Burnley wab the more this will happen. I would hang em but granny claret say's that is a bit extreame.
So can you think of a way to stop it? The Spam Monkey aka Jaseyboy is as we speak being dealt with in house by G.C. :(

so i p[ut some one word messages on a thread. big deal. im not doing owt illegal am i? honestley. if iv offended evry1 then well im sorry, but icant see whats wrong. it was a thread that no1 was using, it was just a hello 1 by digsy. it doesnt bother me. if ppl did it i wudnt complain. and the fact is it took me ages, as you can only post 1 message evry 30 secs, so you should be congratulating me on my patience, not having ago coz i posted messages.

Jaseyboys dad: jaseyboy was doin it as part of his gcse course and was trying to demonstrate some form of initiative, in terms of accelerating his accumilation of points in order to buy stuff from the store and games etc....

Jaseyboys mum: its hypocritical that wayneyboy has wasted valuable webspace on posting this,(the exact reason he is having a go at my son) and is jealous that he didnt think of it.

this is the end of the matter on this site, and i cant see the point of this argument, i was havin fun, and ill say sorry agen , but i still cant see why posting messages is such a heineous crime!

Seems a right family aurgument to me and better done either off line or in PMs rather than on the forum.
I for one am very confused as Jaseyboy talks about sitting his GCSEs and his birthday is 1989 on his profile and then talks about his son! He also refers to his mother is that Grannyclaret or someone else?

In certain circumstances to post more than one word would be wrong anyway, such as in the games forum where only one word is required as an answer.
Nobody has complained to me as a moderator and I will check with Neal if he has had any complaints.

Given the recent loss of everybodies post count there appears to be a proliferation of these gaming threads etc where people appear to be posting all sorts of silly tripe, making thier post count back upto what it was.

And although it's only a web forum & the points mean nowt in reality people can be quite ticked off that they lost what they had worked upto, take me I had over 350 posts, now I got less than 100 & it makes me look a newbie.
Although I too am joining a few of them occasionally, I can't be bothered too much.

Myself I'm turning a pair of blind eyes to most posting for points until the boss says enough is enough, then it will be a case of is the 1 word comment actually anything to do with the thread? People can have a point of view that can be summed up in one word. Of course, spam is spam & it will be duly despamified, chopped up & I'll use it for fishing bait. :D

if it IS spam then fair enough do something but some of us do actually like the gaming threads and play em for fun and not to increase post points etc....it isnt as though theres a cash reward for goodness sake!! There are a few that post stupid things but they are the minority. If people are to be encouraged to join our forum it should be because its a friendly place and not full of mini hitlers waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting.
Jaseyboys only young and being a cheeky lad...he'll get bored if you leave him alone.

Yes there is a feature to do this which I may turn on if any problems occur. I may also remove the top posters list soon as I have turned off showing certain members on this for me and some others as they didn't want it to show, plus I post a lot of forum info.

If people can just have fun and make posts that make sense and fit into the forum there shouldn't be any problems. The Mods are keeping an eye open as well as myself.
