Managed to dust off my scanner now its getting warmer. Should start to get some decent signals but I'm in a bad location anyway.

I've "stumbled" across the shopwatch which is hard to pickup and managed to get locked into some amateur radio mainly on 145.5500.

Then there's planes, can pick up those overhead clearly but hard to understand what they are saying.

It is illegal, hence why I stumbled across it.

The amateur radio freqs are OK to listen to.

Can't get anything from Winter Hill here too low down in Burnley so Rock FM is out of the question, besides its all encrpted now so you can't pick up police or fire service.

Is it illegal to listen to shopwatch?
Surely thats not a emergency service?

It is private airspace though. If you are part of the shopwatch thing then its OK to listen. To be honest I can't see many people bothering about that and with the police and fire service on tetra there's not much reason for getting into bother.

I know there still being fussy about listening to airplanes. You are allowed to listen to the coastguard though (as long as any transcievers have channel 0 blocked, recievers only are OK)

IMO if someone does not want someone else to listen to them then they should encrypt thier signals.

If they send them through my house then IMO they are mine to do what I want with. :D

LOL - I think the shopwatch realise they have a fan base as they have loads of rules now including no names and no telephone numbers along with no shop names (assigned shop numbers instead).

Once again I stumbled across it, I'm going to have to find how to block it ;) , and some shopkeeper was being told off by the base centre for speaking when she was told to stand by, they also slag off their customers on air if they've been awkward.
