Heh heh heh, I'm going to leave all my dealings with the council until this date, then I'm going to go down there and give whoever they have on as a skeleton staff a really hard time of it. ;)
If they have a picket, i'm going to make my own sign with something like "£800 for Council Tax? You must be having as much of a laugh as these jokers!" then go and stand with them. :D
We could even have our own picket alongside them saying that they shouldn't recieve a pension at all because they're all bloodsucking vampires and are therefore immune to old age. :yelrotflm

I'd go on strike 7 days a week if I was working for a council run by Caddy.

Council staff and other public services are joining up to have a strike,we have been told that our pensions are being alterd radicaly,it may sound like we are bleating but your pension is very important,When you think that in the future you may get a very small amount when you finish work,on a programme a man in his early 20's was told that if he wanted to get around £15,000 a year pension he would have to put away about £450 a month! We are living longer and less people are saving for their retirement and a timebomb is ticking!

It's fine if you get one provided by your employers.

On the council don't we ratepayers provide you with one?

Those of us that work for private companies have to do without because the law does not force them to do so.
I'm 40 & I have none, could not afford one so it's best to leave mine to the state pension now AFAIK.

i think your better off .
ihave always paid a full stamp and i even paid( a.v.c"s added vollentary contributions ,),so i would be all right when i retired ,,but silly me ,i would be just as well off as those who never saved anything ,and never worked ,,,we dont get any handouts towards rent and poll tax or things like that ,but i still think that the onus is on ourselves to provide for ourselves ,,,,the world does not owe us a living ,,,
sorry for ranting ..

Angry

I agree with the comments about Caddy. I used to work at same place as him and he was a waste of space then.

It's to give you time to cool off before you go storming down to the Council offices with a blunt instrument in your hand.

It's just getting ridiculous isn't it. Remember when they brought in the poll tax and everyone started protesting and rioting? That was nothing compaired to how much they are forcing us to pay nowadays, and the sickest thing about it all is if you really can't afford it (and plenty can't) when you go to court and try to defend yourself they tell you that poverty is not an exuse you can use for not paying it. According to them, neccessities like food and heating come second to paying your council tax. Meanwhile it gets more and more expensive every year.
I wonder how long they think they can keep doing this to us before we start fighting back.
