Make Trade Fair

Hi all, I have been reading into the trade industry recently and I am truly appaled.

On average coffee collectors get paid $1 per day (sometimes less, $1 = about 50p) whilst in that same day nestle and other top brands make up to £500 of that 1 man/womans work. If the companies paid them $3 per day (£1.50) they would live a much much much better life.

I am now trying my best to purchase fair trade foods.

Easter is coming up and fair trade easter eggs are available so why not buy them for your kids/grandchildren/cousin etc and know that you have helped somebody else's life be far better !

This is a very serious problem as many of the farmers do not have clothes, food or even shelter all because of the greed and selfishness of company's such as nestle.

It's not just farmers in far off countries that are affected. The big supermarket chains have too much control over their suppliers. Look at what farmers over here get paid for their produce ie. Lamb, milk and vegetables...ok, their not starving, but I just wanted to make the point that it's not just coffee and cocoa.

I think you've got a point PC and Col, trainers,football tops etc that people pay top wack for are made by children and poorly paid workers,at least in this country we have a minimum wage!
