Angry I am spitting feathers at Tesco online shopping home delivery service!

I know some of you do online shopping and get their stuff delivered to their home.

Well I struggle carrying heavy shopping and Busman (my OH) works difficult hours and is not always available so we thought we'd have a bash at this online shopping malarky and get a month's worth bulk delivery from Tesco so we'd only have to supplement it with fresh foods on a weekly basis.

He did the online order and arranged for the delivery to come today.

When the man in the van arrived at the door his first question was "Is this a shop business you are buying for? You can't do that you know." So I asked him if it looked like a shop which it quite clearly doesn't. It's a private house. I told him it was our usual shopping for the month but just the heavy, bulky items so I wouldn't have to carry them because my husband is working and not always available to go shopping.

His reply to that was that we had bought too much and it wasn't allowed. We could have it this once but we wouldn't be able to shop there again! He then asked for help to bring it out of the van because if he had to do it himself, quote "I'd be knackered".

As there was only me here I told him I would try to help but I couldn't lift heavy stuff, that was the whole point of having it delivered to which his reply was "Don't come an attitude with me Mrs." What attitude? We ordered it, we paid for it, we have it delivered (which we have paid for too). At no point along the way were we refused or told we couldn't order a month's supply at a time until this guy arrived.

So, I phoned Busman to tell him that the stuff was here but the guy was being awkward about bringing it out of the van. He told me to tell him to take it back. I hope we get our money back. but going off past history with Tesco when we had the saga of the exploding Cola cans I just know it isn't going to be easy.

Maybe they want us to order every week because then they would get 4 delivery charges whereas with a bulk order they only get one.

As far as I am concerned I don't care if I never set foot inside Tesco again. It's ludicrous attitude to have towards customers and they don't deserve our future custom.

Asda here I come - or where's the nearest Sainsbury's?

My niece wasent happy with tesco on line either,everything was almost at the best before date,so she sent the lot back.
Is there an iceland store near you Willow,they will deliver and you can pick all your own goods yourself.. plus we got six 24 can packs of beer and loads of heavy stuff like milk and squash ,,the lad that brought it never complained at all,it IS free delivery,but we always give him a tip.

That's appalling service Willow! I've never used this kind of service so can't compare it to others, but it does seem to cancel out the point of ordering shopping online.

The driver's attitude alone sounds worth a complaint.

Hope you get the issue sorted to your satisfaction.

If it wasn't so irritating Willow it would be funny, its like something out of you couldn't make it up. Where do they get these people, can you give me a lift I'll be knackered, if you don't get you money back Willow get onto Watch Dog they just love things like this

I've used Tescos Online when my son was tiny, arranged it for Saturday afternoon, It didn't turn up!!! When I rang to enquire where it was I was told the van had broken down and they could not say when I would receive it. Was told it may be Sunday but it may be Monday. I told them to forget it as I was running out of milk, veg and bread.

If I had not rung to find out, I doubt Tesco would have contacted me and they were a bit funny when I asked for a refund. I have used ASDA since and have found them to be very good.

eeek thats doesnt sound right?
i have tescos delivered nearly every other week and they have alsways been really prompt and helpful to me. even helped me carry things into the kitchen,sounds to me you had an arsehole driver who needs sacking

Well I'm still waiting for the apology I am supposed to have got from them! Busman rang them the night of the non delivery to ask about getting his debit card refunded and explained that we hadn't got the shopping because of the van driver. The person he spoke to said he was appalled and that he'd get onto whoever was responsible and someone would phone me to apologise the next day. That didn't happen so he phoned them again and the guy said someone would definitely phone me - I'm still waiting.

Its appalling behaviour! I would keep ringing up and find out what is happening. This driver should not get away with this.
I think we dont complain enough! Just the other day at the bus stop the driver left to early , making people miss their bus. Nobody seems to bother, when people make mistakes ,they should be corrected in my view.
