Default My cat has a cut on it's head...

My cat came in a couple of mornings ago with a bit of a cut on it's head - nothing major. I wasn't overly concerned as it had scabbed and he wasn't bothered by it at all. He washed it regularly and was still as active and hungry.
It has stayed scabbed - not weeping at all, but tonight when he sat on my lap I noticed a funny smell coming from the cut. It doesn't seem sore and he doesnt mind me touching it to examine him. I have just bathed it with warm sterile water and he was fine with that - he even purred while I did it!
I am concerned about the smell though -it has only arrived today.
Any ideas before I ring the vets?
Cheers

Thanks
Well I bathed it with a boiled water salt solution and cleaned it - not pleasant! It left a round circle of raw looking skin which i bathed again. L left him then to see how it went. This morning it had already healed a lot and now there is just a little scab with no smell.
Hopefully it seems to be bettering itself. I will keep a close eye on it.
The stress of the vets is enough to make him ill!
Thanks

Im glad he is ok now and i think you did the right thing. Tea tree isnt good for use on animals ! I have several Aloe Vera plants and use them for my dry skin and find that good for psyrosis!

Hope your cat heals fully. I can understand how stressy they can get about going to the vets. One of ours gets into a right tiswas just over going for an annual check-up. She clings onto my for dear life and I have the scratches to prove it!
