Default What was your first car

What was the first car you ever owned. For my part it was a Fiat Panda back in the early 80s, before that I always had a works vehicle

The first car I ever owned was a Triumph Herald 1200, I shared it with my brother and it cost us £125 to purchase as it was in a bit of a state! This was in the late 80's/early 90's, I couldn't even drive when I bought it. I let my brother take it over after a while as he was doing most of the work on it and needed a car for Uni.

Here's a clip of the beauty:

My next was a Ford Anglia 1200 Super, I'd passed my test by now and had lots of adventures in this car.

It's my brother in the first clip, I make a brief appearance in the second film but if you blink you'll probably miss it. Believe me, the best place for my mush is behind the camera!

What a wonderful log of those two cars Col. Kurtz, felt like I was in them myself.

Have been in possession of many cars in my life, due to the fact that my former husband and his father had a small garage in Clayton. They would do a car up and we would use it for a while, before they decided to sell on and use another.

The first I was given was from my then mother in law..she passed her test and never drove again. Think would be 1965/66 .. a love pale blue Morris Minor .. ace.

The one I have the fondest memories of was a Sunbeam Alpine, again 'coach painted' in a pale blue .. with lift off top .. had to leave behind in the house if I wished to go alfresco .. so had to watch the weather
About the only registration number I can remember .. LEC 55 as was easy. (trouble is everyone else could remember it too .. including our local police LOL). Heard about it a few years back and an acquintance of my daughters had it .. but now sprayed Red.

Would have kept it, but only small seat at the back and daughter insisted on getting bigger.

Nice looking cars those Sunbeam Alpine's, don't see many about nowadays. Don't see many cars of that era out and about come to think of it.

Seen the odd one or two about, not many though.

Not sure if ever had a Herald or Anglia ... probably.. unless we smashed it up in the Destruction Derbys at Nelson .. you too young though, I suspect, to remember those.

Am I right in thinking Seedhill used to do stock car racing? I'm not esp well up on motorsport, but I remember me Dad once saying he met me mum at Seedhill.

He said he used to race stockcars, but Destruction Darbys? that sounds more like banger racing, but could be wrong like I said not right up on motorsport.

Was it called Seedhill ? Can't remember .. just Nelson stadium to me .. will have to find a programme.

Yes, was indeed the banger racing James, but they also did the stock cars too.

Used to alternate between Stockport and Nelson, but was very hard work as a 'hobby' .. doing old cars up (well sort of), only to get them smashed to smithereens on Saturday nights. Fun while it lasted though. They had lady's races too ... must have been mad.
