Hornet and elf's (elves!?!) were mini derivitives - mini with a useful sized boot. The variations on the Hillman Imp were the Sunbeam Stiletto and the Singer Chamois IIRC - all nice little cars and would have been real competition for the mini if they'd built the Imp properly in the first place - I believed it suffered from poor build quality on the early models and the never lost the bad rep.

*Anorak mode off lol.

I looked at an Imp before I got the Anglia, but it needed too much work doing on it.

No, the Anglia is long gone, although it's still around somewhere according to the reg check.

What you saying like? lol

Cars today are built with a shorter lifespan in mind I reacon - which is all wrong IMO. Even if they are more recyclable, it still takes loads of energy to make new cars.

I once read that it takes more energy to build a new car than all the energy it will use over the course of it's life. Don't know how true that is but I've always remembered it.

Exactly, they call it "progress", but I sometimes think we're going backwards. Cars are getting bigger and heavier as we go on, I thought it was supposed to be the other way around?
