Default Organ doners what's your opinion

Over the last few days a lot has been said in the national media with regards to organ doners, with Gordon Brown saying that all people should automaticaly be on the doner list unless they opt out. At present its the other way round, I just wonder what your opinions are on this subject? I don't think tht this would apply to myself on two counts, one age and two the amount of medication I have been on for many years, but there are a lot of younger people use this site, I wonder how you all feel?

I did used to have a donor card but probably need to get another now . I think it is a good thing to give people another chance to live. But realize it must be a n awful descision for some-one to give permission to donate their loved ones organs!

I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

I think the opt out rather than opt in idea is a good one. It takes the pressure off at the time of bereavement. When my late husband died it was such a shock by the time the subject of organ donation had dawned on me it was too late.

I agree with that Willow, when a loved one dies close family mmbers are to upset to start thinking about donating organs, but if everyone was on the list it would be upto the individual to take themselves of he list and not leave any decision to other people

Wouldn't personally bother me, for once your dead and have been for numerous hours I think it's fair to say you're dead, me organs are not much good to me then, however if they can help someone else then fair game why not.

If one's life or quality of life (if serious enough) was dependent upon such donations I don't think one would have any complains about receiving someone else's organs, so therefore why not give up your organs or the organs of your loved ones when you or they pass away.

As long as they where obviously in the correct condition required and they where a suitable match for a potential recipient then I don't see why the donation of one's organs should not take place.

No I don't suppose you do, though that said I don't know nowt really about the procedures and such like, through lack of though I did slightly spoilt me posting about the subject, however I otherwise stand by the rest of the posting I made and just to reiterate I would have not have any problem with donating my organs when dead, why ever not
