My teenage daughter used to tell me how our cat Murphy would know when I was on my way home and go to the front door and wait. It was impossible for him to know when I would be home, as I often did a bit of shopping on the way. My dogs too, used to know when my former husband was on his way, and he had very erratic hours.
Another dog I had would not walk over a covered over bridge between two blocks of flats. It just looked like a continuation of the walkway. Years later it was condemned as dangerous and pulled down.

We have just lost a cat, she was nearly 14. Left a big hole and our other cat is hysterical without her, even though they hated each other. They were together for 12 years.

We do actually. I might give it a go. But she needs company badly. She is 12 and never been without another cat. We are looking to buy two kittens.

It sounds a bit mad, but i have just read a book about a dog who was missing its cat companion after the cat died .The dog owner enlarged a photograph of the cat and taped it to the television, the photo like a flap to fold back when they watched tv! It did work in this case but Im not sure it will work but well worth a try maybe? But who could resist two kittens?

I just showed her one that's on the wall, she stared at it for a good two minutes.

Many years ago when I was at school we had a dog. During the school holidays I noticed the dog would know when my mother was coming back and even which door she was coming to. Not long before she arrived round our corner the dog would head to either the front or back door and sit there tail wagging. He always got the right door but it would depend on which bus she caught as to which direction she came from.
