Default Water!

Morning news on TV - United Utilities says we need to use less water because there won't be enough to go round with all the new houses being built.

In the same news the next item related to flooding!

With all the rain that's been coming down lately how dare they even hint that there could be a water shortage? There's enough of it, it's just allowed to run away. Madness.

That's insane...but at the same time predictable I mean you almost expect it coming up to summer but December?!?!

Next they'll be saying we need to go to Blackburn for it!

Maybe we need bigger/more reservoirs to keep up with demand? But that would need investment and I don't think the shareholders would like that, and they've probably built houses on the flood plains anyway.

The fact is Col. Kurtz that they took large numbers of reservoirs out of the water network about twenty years ago saying they were obsolete, they did away with 3 in Oswaldtwistle alone, but hey these people know what they are doing, who are we to question people who get telephone number salaries, we are just thick country yokals in their eyes, but jst maybe we could teach them a thing or two for a fraction of the money

Sounds about right jaysay.

It's not like we don't get enough rain around here is it? We're famous for it!

If we manage to get enough rain to cause flooding there is absolutely no way on earth we should ever be short of water. They will never admit that it's because reservoirs were decomissioned though. There are now houses on the site at Church which used to be a reservoir. How's that for topsy turvey?

Thats one of the reservoir I was on about in my earlier post willow, on only that but there are the three lodges which are now in the Foxhill nature reserver. I remember when I was a kid they spent thousands on these 3 lodges bringing them up to standard for use in th water supply but never used them

If they did then that's just as crazy with all the new housing up that way at the top of Avenue Parade. Sorry, we seem to have digressed into a Hyndburn debate here - are there any similar reservoir closures in the Burnley area?

the trouble is that these so called executives have no foresight what so ever, they can't see further that their next pay check, you would think that with the cash they receive they would be gifted with a bit of forword planning, but hey thats too much to ask I suppose

No, I mean the money they save by closing facilities in order to give the shareholders a bigger gratuity.
