Wwe Wrestler Chris Benoit & Family Found Dead

Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself earlier today.

Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the living room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, according to an unnamed source in the department.

Lt. Tommy Pope told ABC News "the instruments of death were located on the scene," but didn't specify what those were or where they were found. Pope said the department was not actively searching for any suspects outside the house.

According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.

WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

Were you a fan TB? It's always baffled me how someone can be messed-up enough to murder their own family. Doesn't sound like he went into some kind of rage or anything as the killings seem to be so spread out. Did he have mental or drug problems?

i think anyone who watched the guy wrestle would say how amazing in the ring he was.
so yes i suppose that classes me as a fan he was truely one of the greatest wrestlers ive ever seen.
and as far as i know no he didnt have any mental or drug problems thats why this makes this all the more shocking and baffling.
he was a very private family man who always seemed to be well respected its a real shock

For whatever reason Benoit must have been in his own personal hell to take the life of his family ... I just hope that both him and his family have found peace ...

It's so very difficult, if not impossible, to understand how anyone can take the lives of their family. I suppose it's something we'll never know.

It's so tragic that someone could take their family's life as well as their own.
It is difficult to ever try and understand what goes on in these people's minds, and what makes them do it.

The theory on one of the forums I go on is that years of taking steroids screws your brain, no idea if thats right or wrong.

Although I don't take an interest in this glorified ring violence I get the impression there have been a few deaths in recent weeks, including one faked ?

Most banned drugs do have an effect on the brain, even if the person has stopped taking them for a while. Dont know anything about this wrestler to comment if there was some sort of drug taking on his part.

Not one for WWE so dont know much about it but this is a tragedy. The only ones that know what really happened are all dead. We can speculate along with the authorities but let it be dignified so they can rest in peace.

theres no toxicology results back yet to say what was any of their systems but he was regulary drug tested by the wwe as it one of the things they are strict on and in april the last results he had nothing in his system.
but his son did have fragile x syndrome and was supposedly being given growth hormones because he was undersized now whether thats where the steriods are from ive no idea.
a criminologist said on tv earlier that the behaviour he displayed wasnt down to steroids it was to planned out rather than spur of the moment outbursts that the steroids would give.

i dont think it was down to drugs i think it was far too planned and he was just obviously sick in the head.

Sorry he is one sick knobhead, he really planned this out, i really felt for his wife & son poor things - he doesn't deserve any sympathy.

I personally do not like WWE or the like, i dont see the attraction at all even the blokes, especially aimed at kids that like to mimic them, seen plenty of evidence in school to know that its not exactly a great thing for kids to copy & they dont understand what they see is made to appear they are hurting one another or that its safe to copy because in technical sence they think they wont hurt anyone or themselves, my lad is bad enough had to ban power rangers because he went out to play act it without the special effects but that is my personal opinion on it.
