| Actually, I have taken to listening to Audiobooks on my iPod, usually on the way to work. Latest is Tess Gerittsen and Vanish. It's good.

| My daughter bought me some of the Richard and Judy books for Mother's day......I liked a couple of them but there was one that i ploughed my way through, but didn't enjoy...it was SO memorable that I have forgotten the title...it was about a Murder in New York....and the involvement of Freud etc. It left me totally cold. I gave it her for her to see if she felt the same about it. Another good one was Jodi Picoult 'Salem Falls'. I really should keep a diary of the books i have read because the canny book companies sometimes change the pictures on the cover and I think to myself 'Goody, here's one i haven't read'....I buy the blooming thing to fing that I HAVE read it. I get a lot of my books from the charity shops...then take them back when i have read them......so they really are only on loan. |

| thanks Mercury..... I knew it was Alice somebody or other beginning with an S but could only think of Seberg and I knew that wasn't quite right. I have these senior moments now and again. I go more like my Ma every day. |

| Well, it is...and it isn't. I found it quite heartening in its portrayal of the after life. I hope the after life is how Alice Sebold portrays it. It certainly runs paralell with some of my experiences. Read it Willow......that is the only way you can make a judgement. Another book I found very challenging was 'Sophie's World'...it was very stimulating and not the kind of book that you would read at bedtime, because it starts the mental engine turning over. The author of Sophie's World is Jostein Gaardner. I loved 'The Bad Mother's Handbook' and another favourite of mine is 'I Don't Know How She Does It' by Allyson Pearson. I HAVE to read every night before I can go to sleep, and if i haven't got about 3 books in hand I get quite panicky......I am currently down to my last book....so i am on the lookout for good reads. Charity shops here I come. |
