THAT SAID, PEOPLE ALSO MOANED ABOUT WIND FARMS, WHICH I THINK ARE BRILLIANT |

| Anyone got a link for this? I haven't seen it yet, I saw some spaceship /satelite dish shaped shelter design thingy not long ago, I thought that was destined for crown point. I'm with Digsy on windfarms, I think they are impressive structures as well as being useful (probably attract more visitors than metal tree on the moors - that's really being sensitive the the surroundings ). I think every home should have one and keep the countryside free from man made clutter.I do think these 'artworks' are a waste of money, but because of the way they are funded, if Burnley doesn't get it, some other chinless wonder from down south will get commissioned to do some other useless folly somewhere else. I just wish these people would get their priorities right, public art used to be commissioned by rich industrialists out of their own pocket for the benefit of their workforce/their ego whatever...these days we have to pay for some arts development numptys whimsy - to attract business :yelrotflm excuse me while I split my sides We've already got the countryside on our doorstep...it's all around us, you can't miss it! We don't need a focal point (with obligatory car park and visitors centre) to remind us. There is good stuff happening, cycle paths and new country walks are great for encouraging people to get out, exercise and enjoy our surroundings. *rant over*

| I think it's only in the concept stages yet. Although I'd have thought it would be much more in keeping with the area & local traditions to have some art made out of local quarry stone, heck even a new stone wall would be better :D And why Crown Point? It would only give the "people" that go car parking up there another excuse to say why they are there (and I don't mean those that genuinly want to see the view). |
