Sweetpea,have you got something against the Portuguese,having lived here for the best part of 3 years I can assure you that Portuguese people on the whole look after their kids a lot better than most other countries of the EU,there are no latchkey kids here and another piece of information for you is that in the area where Madeline has gone missing there are 3 or 4 times more foreigners living there than Portuguese,the GNR police and the Judicial police are not daft they have a good idea that the perpretator of the crime is not Portuguese but a person or persons from another country,it,s also worth saying that the police are not just PICKING on British people,there are also lots of people from the Eastern Bloc countries living here,they pulled a Russian chap in last night,I don,t see any complaints about that.Having got that off my chest I do hope that the child is found soon and that she is safe and well.

Im sure the Portugese police are doing everything possible, think its hard for people to understand the differences in the judicial proceedings between the 2 countries way of doing things. How is the news being recieved over there?

Still hoping she is returned safe & well as everyone is:thumbsup:

Hi Keck............ I don't think anyone has anything bad to say about Portuguese, ok their laws are different to our over matters like this....and sometimes they seem a little weird to what we know, but I think Portuguese people might think that about our laws.......it's just what you come to learn and know and get used to.

On a lighter note...how are things in Portugal ??

As I know bugger all about the country, no. But as an outsider it does seem to me they are pulling in any non- portugese they can find. Also reports of the local police hiding in their vans from the rain rather than joining the search does not inspire confidence in their desire to find this child. I am aware that the portugese have a very good rep regarding the bringing up of children, but this after all, is a foriegn child.

I live about 40mins away from Luz and I know from talking to local people that everyone here hopes that Madeline is found safe and well,I also know that on the weekend that she went missing that a few families from this area went to Luz to help look for her,the Portuguese people are very family orientated.

Sweetpea,I can assure you that from my observations of the people and how they treat their children that it has,nt even entered their heads that Madeline is foreign,to them they want the same result as everyone else and that is for the safe return of Madeline.
