Does that mean Battenburg cakes wont exist? the link with Prince Phillip would surely keep them in this country!Oddies used to sell this or have i dreamt it?Maybe this cake has to be imported now? My son loves this cake and used to call it window cake!

Chorley cakes are far superior than Eccles cakes :)

Having worked at Oddies bakery (Nelson) i can tell you that nothing cooked is as fresh as it may seem. Pies are prepared at the home bakery then frozen for delivery in upto three days (dependent on stock) then defrosted and cooked at local stores. The pastry that is left over used for sausage rolls and pies containing puff style pastry is re-used and carried over to the next day (your pastry could contain weeks old ingredients) and none of the delivery vans are refrigerated!

They also state they are quality bakers. I wish they would reflect the premium price of products in the workers wages :(

Not a rant, just a heads up :)

Eccles (Manchester cakes) are similar to sads. Chorley cakes are big fat and juicy with a pastry to die for. Pffft! Let Eccles die forever, the kids won't miss 'em ;)

Better than asking for a steak pie supper up here. The brother in law got a shock when it was thrown in the frier.

Hya spuggie they do that in Liverpool or used to, how do you like those 'Scotch' pies? I think they use mutton to fill them, I find them to greasy and the pastry is very heavy.
