Default Booze - do you need it

Ok this has come out of the chatroom. (See Neal its a good idea to have one - you get posts out of it maybe)

Anyway i was in there and talking about not drinking alcohol when i go out. I havent had an alcoholic drink since the end of jan and that was 1 bottle of budweiser before that it was New Years Eve and before that it was October i think the last time i had any alcohol.

Anyway i said that you dont need to drink alcohol to have a good time out on the town. You can have a good time not drinking plus no hangover the following day. The others who was in the chatroom at that time said you cant - so i threw the gauntlet down to them a night without booze at a meet for accyweb and theyve agreed. But do you really need booze to have a good time? They say you do. You lose your inhibitions when you have an alcoholic drink and you arent so shy. Anyway can you do it - go out on the town without drinking alcohol and have just as good a time than when you go out drinking alcohol?

I don't think you NEED to get drunk to have a good time - but if I wasn't going to drink I don't think I'd be going round town!

I agree that you relax more after a drink and probably find it easier to talk to new people - even if you are talking absolute crap! lol! However if your an outgoing person you can proabbly do the same without a beer! It's a difficult one and suppose as with most things it's down to the individual.

I enjoy going out for a drink with friends and must admit I've been more than a little wobbly on more than one occasion! Personally I don't think I'd have so much of a good night if I wasn't a little drunk!

It's down to personal choice at the end of the day! Will be interesting to see how the night out goes! Keep us posted won't you?!

At any social gathering where there is drink I find it quite difficult when for some reason I can't have alcohol - I won't drink any alcohol at all if I'm driving for instance. In this situation, I can't fully relax and feel like I'm just going through the motions and can't wait to get home usually.

It's not like I drink loads, I've not had any alcohol for weeks, but it's part of the social thing for me.

I would definately require alcohol to go out in Burnley centre, some of the sights are frightening enough during the day - stone cold sober!

A big night out at the end of each month with the great lads at work is good enough for me, and one or two on a nice sunny day.

I can't go out without drinking though, I like to get jolly! You earn a break from the norm now and again.

Personally, I don't think you need an alcoholic drink to have a good time when you go out. Some of my more memorable nights out have been when I have been sober and been on the orange juice all night.

I just love to drink. I don't drink all week, but on Friday I get through two bottles easy. It is the only time I truly feel relaxed.
