Anyone know what this is?

This keeps trying to grow behind my greenhouse. What is it?

I'm no gardener but the leaves look quite similar to a strawberry plant i have in my garden.:strawberry[1]:

It's quite tough and treelike.

It is i think a small elder of the tree species, if you let it grow it can be enormous and needs quite a big space!

Already done, and I think you are right!

I remember they take a bit of digging out as the roots are really tough, if you dont they take out energy from other plants around. Best get rid of the whole thing!

It's quite small at the moment. But it's very difficult to get to, as it's in a 10" gap between the greenhouse and the house. I just keep cutting it back. I will have to get a bit tougher with it I think.

Yes if it gets really big it will take over but you could have elderberrywine or elderflower champagne! Its not good if its near the house as the roots if got underthere could cause damage longterm!
