Yet another things that sucks about this country. We certainly don't live in a free country any more - well, have we ever really?

Soon the UK will just be a huge mass of houses. Row upon row of ugly buildings. The only greenery we will see will be our gardens, and national parks.

Last time I visited Burnley, I was so upset at the amount of new houses built round Lowerhouse. I remember being told about the time when they were trying to get permission to tip on the beautiful lodges - even David Bellamy got in on the act to try to save it, but they couldn't.

This country sucks, the government sucks, and we are just a load of pawns for the fat cats of the UK. Let's just say I have a few more countries in mind once I qualify as a nurse :)

That's absolutely disgusting.
It's a bit like the compulsory purchase orders on the houses that Burnley Council have decided to knock down. Honest hard working people have worked all their lives to pay a morgage on a home only for the council to force them to sell the house for a fraction of it's true value.

You can have a compulsory purchase order placed on your property as Quazi said but I find it hard to see why in this case just to build houses for a firm like Wimpy?

The government will probably have a target for how many new houses are to be built, Wimpy probably have the contract but probably can't be bothered to look for a property that the owner actually wants to sell. And why should they, when they have the power of the government behind them? I think the guy who owns the land should agree to sell the land for 90% of the profits that Wimpy stand to gain.
