Default Poor old Aurora

Well poor old Aurora has been jinxed again ,this time she has had to cancel ,her grand tour ,103 nights,
The maiden voyage was a disaster and had to retun after 1 day ,and we were on board when she was struck down with the norvorsa virus about 18 months ago .Do you think it is true that when the champagne bottle does not break when the ship is named it is doomed ,which is what happened when Princess Anne did the honours,
Having said that it is the most wonderful ship and it wont put me off going on it again , :iloveyou:

In my job I've known a few sailors and they do tend to be superstitious, trawlermen used to fish from Fleetwood and you get a lot of ex navy blokes retireing round here, and they told me women are'nt lucky on board ship,I think the bottle bit goes back to the time of Jason and the argonoughts.Whistling for the wind is another one and sea gulls are thought to be the spirits of drowned sailors,

I've never been on a cruise, I don't think I'll let this put me off though.

I've never really been attracted to cruising, I mean from the look of it you could be in a Las Vegas hotel with little sensation of being on the ocean (apart from the view). They visit exotic places, but how much of these places are experienced by going out on a day trip with hundreds of other tourists to buy souvineers?
Having said that, I'd love to go on a sailing ship where you muck-in and swab the decks and splice the mainbrace...whatever that means lol, stopping off at deserted coves, catching your own dinner and the like.
Each to his own I guess, but I am interested in what the attraction is of a cruise on on of the big ships.

well Col, i can only say you have to be there to appreciate the experiance,we got our first passports in 1998,and since then we have been on 16 cruises all with P&O,We first went because my husband wont fly and we had never been abroad ,
now we have been to loads of places that we never thought possible ,and on a ship they come to you not the other way round .seeing aurora on the tele has given me the urge to go again ,and conterary to , popular believe they are not as expensive as they sound ,you dont need to pay the prices in the book if you use your loaf ,,

People think it's only posh people that can go on a cruise, but if they let me on they will take anyone! Some ships wo'nt have kids on,some are more for the younger person,I think for what you pay it's value for money, some places are great and you want to stay but some one day is more than enough!
