| It was on at 9pm last night - was absolutely fantastic, a must-see! Yeh, next week will see the earliest ever footage of Man U, and locals on their hols in Blackpool. Was really jealous of all the cotton mill footage, I just wished there was some film of the cotton mill that was across the street from where I used to live. I couldn't believe the smiles on the faces of the workers leaving the mills; they worked in the most dreadful conditions too. Just made me realise how little many of us have to moan about really these days. The young lads everywhere were fantastic, such cheeky chappies dressed in suits and caps, but not like todays youth, who'd probably be swearing and sticking two fingers up at the camera! The people just hanging round in groups chatting in the towns was lovely; we are so segregated these days, and towns are bland, and many people unfriendly and ignorant. Where I live you won't get a smile off a single person if you go out to town - I just get dirty looks and nasty comments because I don't look my age, and people assume I am a teenage Mum! I always cry my way through things like this, because they are all dead lol.....yep, I think I'm a bit weird too! |

| Col and Carriebuk, I did'nt see the programe but it was an item on northwest news,it said the films were found ten years ago in a shop in Blackburn, the films were found in barrels in a cellar, they took ten years to restore by the British film archive, they have been remasterd to take out jerky movements and make them more clearer, they found a lot of films and as you know the film used was very flamable,so we now have a glimpse of life at the start of the last century in the northwest. I hope they show them in schools as a history aid. |
