What do you think about the fine in Liverpool of over £100 for dropping a cigarette butt? Do you think it was going over the top?

There were 25 all fined the same fine £60 and £75 costs in total £135. They were also told that the fine would have been higher if they had not pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

It's been said that 40% of the litter on the streets is cigarette butts.
They are harder to pick up as they fall into the gaps etc.

All people have to do is stub them out & then either put them back into the packet or throw them in the bin once ensuring they are extinguished. If there is no bin then carry it until you find one.

Yes they would get the same fine no matter what the litter is, it does not get any different depending upon the size of it, maybe on the quan***y it might as that can then be multiple offences or a different offence.

Same should go for dog owners in fact it should be a higher fine as doggy doo is worse.

That shows you have set a good example to him. Children copy their parents.

The in thing these days is to paint them black, along with the town centre bollards etc. If they were bright Yellow/pink then they might be more visible.

They also need a big neon sign over them that says "put your rubbish here" :D

But then even if this was so, those that drop litter do not think owt about it & don't give a monkeys so whatever is done, apart from hitting them in thier pockets, they are still going to do it.
As they are likely to still smoke in front of non smoker, drive thier car while on the phone & park in disabled places.

Don't fancy a bright yellow bin or especially a pink bin. Your always gonna get people who don't care about the enviroment or how their own town looks. their just plain lazy buggers fines should be imposed but not for excessive amounts of money.
