| Should the legal age to Smoke be raised from 16?? I've just read this and wonderd what others think! http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...530971,00.html Do you think 16yrs is the right age? or would you like to have the legal age to buy cigs put up to 17 or 18yrs? I'll make it a poll! Last edited by takersbabe; 03-07-06 at 15:46. |

| It should be raised, but then like Takersbabe says, they will just smoke anyway. But at least it will solve some problems and allow the Police to approach more youngsters causing problems outside shops as they think that hiding the alcohol will stop them being questioned or searched.

| simple solution. double the price of a packet of cigarettes. triple the price if they cant provide photo i.d saying they are of age. that will stop a lot of the buggers. |

| people will always smoke and the age in which they start can't be regulated with raising... BUT I think if the age would be 18 yrs, it would make it a little bit easier for the police and shopkeepers... If someone is 16 he looks quite yung and you would never be able to see if hes 16 or 14 e.g. but with 18 you make a change and it's more obviously as in the age of 16 yrs... but anyway, the most important thing is that the shopkeepers are not afraid to ask for ID's and that they are suported by the police... |
