Question interesting words ???

Hey everybody...

A few of you allready know that I'm from germany... obviously my english isn't perfect... Most of you are native speakers, so I wondered if you want me to know interesting, important words which I have to know... It'll be fun, could be slang or posh words or just ordinary words - any suggestions ????

but please give me a little explanation with it

Hi Nicky-ger, I used to work with a German girl and she could never get her head round the local dialect phrase "I'm a gate" or "He's a gate", which means "I said", "He said" eg:

I went to the shop and asked for a newspaper, the shopkeeper's a gate, "we've sold out" I'm a gate, "already, it's only half past nine?"

You follow?

hm... I think it's not one of the best attitudes to introduce a stranger in the old yorkshire - lancashire conflict (no it doesn't mean something that I just mentioned yorkshire at first )... and to be very honest, I am not bothered about all that... you better read my post again but it's interesting what they say about the lancshire so called Lanky Twang, never heard about that cheers ;o)
