animal testing

There is a piece on the news this morning about using animals for the testing of cosmetics and what have you,my view is that these do-gooders that are all for this barbaric practice should have a bash at going through what these animals have to go through,I think that they would change their minds about the issue,I am an animal lover through and through,what are the views of other webbers?it will be interesting to find out

Do gooders? I thought they were generally thought of as the 'bad guys', despite me not seeing mass boycotting of cosmetics.
I think there is a lot of hipocracy about animal testing in general, not many people would turn their nose up at lifesaving drugs for a disease because they were tested on animals. It's a disturbing industry don't get me wrong, but as long as the scientists think it is the best way of doing things (and not the accountants), it is good enough for me.

Edit: I don't believe it!! I'm advertising *beancounters* by mentioning them in a post...don't look at it...nasty things bleagh!

I steer clear of buying any cosmetic products which I know have been tested on animals, dont agree with it at all.

I don't agree with testing animals for cosmetics! or for Smoking! I'm also anti fur trade
but as for medical, I agree with Col it's a nasty but necessary thing! In time we may be able to do these medical tests without the need to use animals!

Problem is, the extremist animal liberationists or whatever they are dont all differentiate between animal testing for medicine or for cosmetics.

I am an animal lover but i do believe in animal testing if it is for medical reasons! but i am totally against animal testing for cosmetics! why should the animal pay for our beauty!
