Hmmm, possibly. Though I'm more inclined to think MOR. I'm not so keen on them to be honest, and hate the Snow Patrol/Coldplay comparisons. Some songs are ok, but I just can't warm to them for some reason.

I like Morriseys more recent stuff but hated the smiths when they were around when i was a teenager..they used to make me feel like slitting my throat!! lol!!

What the heck is indie nowadays anyway? They used to have a chart for them in my day. How can a band call itself indie if they are signed to a Sony or EMI? I'd rather avoid using labels and just say I like good music.

A lot of people say that about The Smiths. I think because they sounded so maudlin, but if you really listened to the lyrics they were very tongue in cheek, and quite humourous. Put together with the melodies, you can see why people still go on about how great they were. I never got the chance to see them live. I was more into Nik Kershaw and Tears For Fears then. :hidewall: I didn't get into The Smiths til a few years later.

I had the same feelings hearing stock aitken and waterman drivel over and over in every pub and nightclub on a night out - or hearing 'Hippychick' and thinking it was 'How soon is now':(

It used to be music from bands on Independent record labels, but as you pointed out, most of them are signed to big labels these days. Still, I just associate indie with that shoegazey sound of the Madchester era.

i think alot of people say they like indie because its cool lol!! They probably dance around to Steps at home lmao!!
Personally at the moment im quite partial to Il Divo and think G4 on XFactor are fantastic!!! So there!!! I voted 6 times for em last night...and 3 times for Tabby lol!!

Everybody now...Why do birds suddenly appear?....lol That's the thing about music 'labels', they don't discriminate between good and bad music, there's good and bad in all genres of music.

i dont listen to anything specific really...i listen to music that reflects my mood. When im on my own i like loud rocky type music...Gary Moore, meatloaf. If im feeling thoughtful its the carpenters or abba lol...if im depressed its celine dion lmao!! Havent listened to her for a long long time though.
