German national holidays, Jan 1st, May 1st, October 3rd and a number of other national holidays which vary in date.

Basically, I don't care what terrible things we did, or what have been done to us, because I was not there. What I do know is that millions of men and boys fought and died so that we could be free. That is all that is important to me. You, as a citizen of this land should be grateful to those men, your life would be much different, were it not for them. What I really find galling is your opposition to everything damn thing.

I agree, lets cellabrate victory in WW2 then, if it wern't for thoose that died we'd have been under the rule of the soviets. But lets not have an England day were we all wave big union jacks, where as a nation England has commited so many attrocities, it would be an insult to the dead to do so.

I totally agree with you again Sweetpea! We should have a special day to respect those people who died for us! And as far as waving our flag is concerned, like you i will wave it when ever i feel it is necassary! This is our country because millions of people thought for it to be our country, we should be proud of our countries History as this is what has made it what it is today! Solaris i think you should start showing some respect to those who died so that you could be here living your life how you are right now, because without those men and boys that died for us and for our country we wouldn't have the high standard of living that we have today!

im all for a holiday.
we should have more holidays to celebrate things that have happened in the past, eg) trafalgar

something was said earlier about germany having a holiday to celebrate their past. why not?
