What chance do we have?

A firm in Chorley has been producing cloth to make approx 25,000 garments a week. This cloth has gone to a firm in Blackburn who have been making camouflage uniforms for the Ministry of Defence. Not any more, the MOD have now given the contract to an Irish firm who have a factory in China

What chance does our manufacturing industry have if our own government doesn't support UK firms?

I'm fed up with this sort of thing happening, especially in view of China's human rights record. I can't imagine them having expensive health and safety measures in place either. All this global freemarket thing is doing is taking our jobs and moving them out to China, India etc...soon it will be eastern europe as well.

The only people I can see benefitting are the bosses who sell their employees down the river (not nesessarily their own fault) - the consumer doesn't really benefit - they might get cheaper goods in the short term, but they've got to have jobs in order to be able to buy them, and if this carries on the balance of trade will turn and we will become a poor neighbour in world trade.

We (Britain) will end up as some freakish tourist attraction like Easter island or the pyramids, a reminder of a civilisation that could not see past the next balance sheet, spent all it's money (abroad) on fighting lost causes and casting aside the people who put the 'Great' in Britain.

Sorry, went 'off on one' a bit there, but you get the idea.

its a very (im all right jack society)these days, people in india and china etc will work for peanuts so the fat cat bosses ,dont give a monkeys ,as long as they have big fat pay packets,G.C.
