This is a discussion on Public smoking ban! What do you want? within the General Chat forums, part of the General category; It looks like even the Government can't agree on what's the best way to bring about a ban on smoking ...

| My view is this, I've been forced out of pubs because of smoke!! One time some bloke with a pipe was smoking socks!!!!! My Dads got very bad breathing and he can't do with smoke! I'm a live and let live bloke and I don't want a total ban! There should be "Smoking rooms" but they must be sealed off! |

| am sick of people changing pubs to some sort of kid friendly place think smoking is disgusting and dirty but the pub is where people go to relax with a drinkie take your kids and sod of to a cafe or park or beach or watch telly at home or sommat if smokey pubs keep out kids and people wanting a meal then GOOD! MAKE IT COMPULSORY IT REALLY PEES ME OFF PUBS TO REMAIN PUBS if we have to lets have SOME non-smoking pubs and give people (customers and workers) the option |

| ive got to admit ,when we were having a meal at the royal in cleveleys a chap lit up a cigar ....which was vile..... instead of me going and asking him to put it out ,i just moaned and suffered the obnoctious smell. i think theres a no smoking part now....

| As an ex-smoker, I must say I heartily agree with a ban. Coming from a family of four generations of cancer sufferers, no one has the right to put my health in danger.

| so why don't they ban smoking then????????????????? because of tax is why the government is just paying lip-service and yet again going at something really important that they could stamp their mark on, in a luke warm fashion.... just like fox-hunting and the minimum wage to name but two things If you don't like smoke, don't go to a pub! |

| THis old chestnut again. It can turn into an argument. I.E. WHY THE BLOODY HELL SHOULD i NOT BE ABLE TO GO TO THE PUB? lol The answer would be because people smoke & make it foul smelling & hard for me to breath there. I don't take my kids to the pub, they are too young to drink. Mind you, I prefer to do my drinking at home instead, less distance to crawl.. |

| Should be up to the pub owners, if you don't like it, don't go there - simple! I can put up with kids in pubs, as long as they are well behaved. Winds me up when parents let their darlings run wild, especially when hot food is being carried about.

| Mmmmmm.......... I'm a dirty disgusting smoker thats probably killing eveybody around me and apols to those that I have killed off, however, we live within a democratic society and we must not forget that should we??? I agree that there should be no smoking within eating establishments ie: cafes & resturaunts, there should also be a ban in force where young children are as long as this is within a play area INDOORS but to have a complete ban throughout all public areas is alittle unfair, how about good air extraction facilities within public houses/boozers/pubs whatever! I like to walk but I am forced to breathe DEADLY carbon monoxide fumes into my lungs but I dont see anyone making a fuss here, example: If you are in a room with a running car how long would you survive compared to being in a room with a smoker??? Nearly all go out to watch the bonfires which will soon be everywhere, how many people that dont like smoke(ers) visit these venues??? Am I getting through here or just being selfish? I enjoy smoking I know its silly but thats life. Theres plenty of horrible fumes that you breathe everyday so why pick on a smoker??? There should always be a choice shouldn't there? ![]() |

| In the city where I live in Canada, they have banned smoking in all pubs, restaurants, and anywhere inside any building (apart from your own home). If you are in a pub and want a smoke, you have to go outside. Not bad in summer but bl**dy cold in winter. Its surprising how soon you get used to it. I think it should be ok to smoke in a pub,but in a restaurant...no. I have a friend who stopped smoking (the worst kind of moaner) and complained when I lit a cig. talking on and on about polluting the air. He had no comeback when I reminded him that I had only one car and his family at home had three. Now who is polluting the air? |

I think it is a dirty, disgusting habit, but.......... Cars are the biggest polluters going (after planes), but you don't hear people going on about them Three and four car families "oooh i have to drive lil Billy ten yards to school everyday etc...." How about a ban on that. One car per houshold ONLY - no, people would be up in arms wouldn't they Unfortunately, smokers are an easy target, and what is worse, it'll be us drinkers next! the people in charge at the moment won't be happy until we don smoke, don't drink, dont eat salt, dont eat sugar, dont gamble and DONT HAVE FUN WHAT A MISERABLE BLOODY LIFE THEY WANT |
