Default Road Tax & Transport Issues

Over the last couple of months I have been really struggling for spare cash due to moving jobs, surveyers and solicitors fee's, nursery fee's, bills, etc. and I went 10 days over my expired tax disc.

I paid for it as soon as possible, and had it backdated as you do. Nearly a month later a fine comes through my door asking for £44 for the late payment of road tax.

What annoys me and with the DVLA adverts is that it is again the normally law abiding motorist who gets hit. Basically, what this advert says and this fine is that you are better off not registering your vehicle at all, and just buy a scrap one like a lot of scum do and then your free to do what you want. If you get a copper on your tail, drive dangerously for a short time and they will back off due to the forces pursuit criteria.

It is really starting to annoy me how much the motorist is hit because the Government has cocked up their roads policies. One other reason why I left the job as Parking Attendant which is just all about making money! Some people I worked with couldn't even read or write english well!

Come on, let's have a good debate on this.

No excuses for not having road tax IMO.
YOU GET A REMINDER A FEW WEEKS BEFORE IT IS DUE.

A week they might have let you off with, but 10 days is stretching it.
If i had forgot about the road tax then i wouldn't have ben happy about the fine either,is there no appeals procedure?

This is surely a warning to all of us.Shame it was you Neal.

yeh, any1 but u neal. 10 days isnt that long a time period really, so they shouldnt have problems with u really, but i cant understand why they took the time to fine u, when sum1 thats driving without tax perma are driving free. surely they should be tracing them, rather than fining law abiding people. its all jiggered up!
