Thumbs down Petrol panic buying

Been out to get some petrol as I was nearly empty, Rossy road petrol station was closed as they had run out although I saw a tanker on it's way.
I got some on Accy road which was down to one unleaded pump - which isn't suprising when numpties like the bloke a few cars in front fill their whole tank, billycans, wheely bins etc with the stuff!
I just put in what I usually fill up with - a 20 quid splash and dash lol.
Hope I don't run out though, wouldn't want to have to rely on the bleedin' trains like last time

So are these blockades going to acheive anything positive? Somehow I doubt it...

I'm afraid I've not much time for most of the fuel lobby!!!! Most get cheap fuel anyway!!!! The price of fuel is dear but so is my ale!!!!! The people panic buying are in my view stupid!!! this time round the powers that be won't be stupid enough to let them blockade again!!! and what did it get them last time anyway???

The chancellor has the motorist over a barrel though, it's not like we've a choice between using a car or public transport half the time. Seems like the motorist is paying for everything nowadays - we KNOW they pollute and people are killed by them - but WHAT are the alternatives? It's not like they are the biggest eco problem.
WHY can't taxes be spread out more on LUXURIES instead of necessities? Put more tax on burberry and fake gold for instance!
BTW, I don't drive a gas guzzler and have started car sharing, I have zero points on my licence, (well, I wouldn't want to get screwed by the insurance companies even more than I already am). I also use my LEGS either walking, or on a pushbike.

I was on my way to the pub and while i waited for a mate to show up i was watching them fill up at a garage on Blackburn Rd in Accy .
1 bloke filled his car so full it was slopping out of the tank then got 6 cans out of the boot and filled them too.
i cant see the point.

You'd think we liked to queue - mind you we probably invented it - or was that the Russians?

the guys who do the blockades get me mad mostley, farmers with large tanks full of cheap red diesel on thier farms, so they dont give a sh*t about any body els, they can play at being sily b*ggers as long as they want, but it will not make on bit of difference, at the end of the day it all comes down to supply and demand, and there is more demand than supply

Angry Re: Petrol panic buying

There is not going to be any blockades at the moment ,the road hauliers are to meet the goverment this week to try and come to some compromise regarding the % of tax paid on fuel. This does hark back to 2000 when we had petrol shortages, and people remember that. As a result of the action then, Tony Blair withdrew the then increase in petrol duty .We are the 2nd biggest indirect tax payers in Europe (Switzerland being the 1st) Ok Turkeys price per litre my be more than ours, but in comparison the cost of living is realy cheap Ive been there on holiday so I know. Iam not a great beliver in direct action but sometimes thats all that we can do. Regarding the price of red diesel to our farmers, yes it is subsidised but look at the subsidies the French farmers get from the European coffers ,which all of us tax payers contribute to. I have been to France many times, and the impression I get about the French is they dont take things lying down if they think its wrong they fight.
Maybe we can learn from our galic friends.

Don't start me on tractors. I live in the middle of the fens, farm country. Our roads are constantly blocked by these non-road taxed, subsided to the hilt, money grabbing gits.

On fuel blockades, bring 'em on. We pay more tax on everything than most of the rest of the world.
