His brother just happens to be the Governer of Florida!!! I'm normaly on the side of GW but on this one it looks like he is dragging his heels because the State is mostly a poor one and is not a top priority IMO!

he could have done more....yes....but he might have had his reasons for delaying, like making a detailed plan of action that is fool proof,m and so that the aid effort will not fail.

As to the issues in Neworleans it's not bush fault, the problem is that (FEMA) is now apart of the Homeland Sercurity and if follows U.S. politics at all, then you already know that (HS) is staffed with only the brightest crackheads. And in reguards to Mr. Blair, I'll trade you a bush for a blair any time.

I think many people are to blame for the mess in New Orleans. No one person can be blamed. I can't imagine, after the terrible thing that happened, as a citizen of that State, going out and looting all the stores and creating more chaos than already existed, so some blame belongs there. When are we going to realize that it is only by working together, side by side, (like people did in WWII) that things are going to improve. I think the real problem lies with all of us. We can see all the faults that others make, and we can also see what should be done to rectify the situation, but if we were in the same position I wonder if we would react as we think we would. After all, can you imagine thinking you're going to die. Wouldn't you be in a state of shock, totally confused as what is the best thing to do? I know I would! That's not to say that there are certain people in high places that should have taken immediate action, and didn't. Just trying to point out this was a terrible life and death situation for a lot of people, and sometimes we act out of character when under stress. As for Tony Blair, as a British person living in Canada, I admire him tremendously, He sticks to his principles, is not frightened of saying what he truly believes, and seems to really care about the people of England, and indeed, the world. Sure, he makes mistakes. We all do, but as a World leader I think he is one of the best, both by action and example. Blessings, Ryhunt2000

Bush no, not specifically. The US government, yes. Although it's hard to find someone to blame, someone in the government past or present has failed to take heed of the warnings that N.O. was only protected to a category 3 storm. With the onslaught of a cat 5 one it could not be protected. What I find hard to understand is why they did not have big reserves of food/water/blankets etc ready & waiting for sending to disaster areas. It's not like they never get hurricanes etc. Although... it's not just the US that has land that can easily be under water. We too have our own, Canvey Island in the mouth of the Thames is below sea level, there are great big sea walls surrounding it yet if we got a big enough wave it too would be swamped (as it did in the early 1900s). The residents all live on comparative fear of one day there will be another flood, would the UK have the resources available to give immediate aid? I doubt it. If the Thames barrier was to be used in anger, to do it's job then Canvey island would suffer from the backwash, although maybe on a smaller scale than New Orleans being only 2x3 miles big (ish). So we are not much different.
