I have been getting stick because of some of my expose's since posting on here. One of them was the fortnightly bin collection which some of you may remember me spilling the beans on. May I now point you to the front page of the Burnley Express. This point was more or less confirmed a few months ago when the express revealed that the meetings that this was discussed in was unusually decided by the chair to not be made public, even though I'd mentioned this well before. Looks like the blue buckets are making a comeback though but how long will this last. PS. The traffic warden who was off through stress has now returned to work!

| we got blue bins in cleveleys .but they keep changing their minds what you can put in them, first it was just paper then you could put cardboard etc in, now its back to just paper ,and they only come once a month now .

I am willing to take part in helping the enviroment by putting glass bottles in one box papers in another etc but come on can people manage having their wheelie bins emptied fortnightly i totally disagree with that idea.Take the summer months i know we are not blessed with that much hot weather here but the bins will be stinking and if we have to much rubbish it means leaving them out in bin bags again which means rubbish left behind on front and back streets after collection do we really need to go back to that i dont think so. So please please please keep our bin service to a weekly collection.

Maybe during the winter months it might be OK, at the moment I usually only remember to put my bags out once a fortnight & often end up taking them to the dump myself if my 4 bins are overflowing. (I'm still on bags as I cannot get a wheelie bin through my back gate). Where I am currently living I can guarantee that the fly tipping will increase &the back streets will become an even greater mess. Will Biffa come out & clean up quicker? NO they will not, even if they are only on fortnightly collections. They won't come & clean up all the mess any more than they do now, which is damn little & always too late. If you report an incident of fly tipping etc, there may only be bags of rubbish there, but by the time that biffa get around to coming & doing anything, it's all over the place & they then pick up very little of it. Grrrrr.

By the end of two weeks my bin is almost singing, well humming really. Due to the dog poo from my two dogs, even though it it is sealed in the little green bags. Cant wait for the summer, just think of all the flies my dogs will have to play with.

I bet Westminster won't be having fortnightly collections, even though their council tax is much lower than ours. Seems like the house holder does most of the work already, they will want us to dump the stuff next - and still pay for the privelidge. When the white bags for paper was the 'fad of the moment' the bin men collected it once and failed to leave a replacement bag - so that was the end of that for us! When it was the turn of the blue boxes they took our clean, clearly marked box and left us a disgusting one from elsewhere with a totally different house number on. So we sacked that off as well. My brother's blue box came in useful when we laid his concrete kitchen floor (exellent for carrying concrete in), but a bit of a mess now! If you are a single occupant, you are only entitled to a small (rubbish) bin - how tight is that!! I suppose we will all have to toe the line though, as the council will be able to penalise us for not re-cycling (those of us that pay council tax anyway), Don't get me wrong, I want to see sensible schemes to cut down on land-fill and the like. It's just that I don't think this council and it's contractors have the wits about them to do it sucessfully and without getting people's backs up. Grrrrrr!!

I remember Robert being challenged over this and must admit it annoyed me at the time as there is supposed to be freedom to attend council meeting and or read the minutes. That is unless it involves individuals who are to be disciplined etc. The original introduction of wheelie bins didn't take into account the large number of terraced properties in the town who would be unable to use them. This idea of the fortnightly bin emptying is so that the council can use the money from the weekly collections to meet their responsibilities of recycling rubbish. I am surprised that Health and Safety regulations allow the council to carry out a fortnightly collection, for the sake of the residents and also those who have to empty bins which will be stinking after two weeks. As has been mentioned the containers for recycling are scattered since recycling was put on hold and This house would certainly need another dustbin if the plan is to go ahead, some houses still haven't had the first bin delivered despite calls to the Town Hall.

OMG I just couldn't believe what just happened. As some of you know I am in the process of seloing my house & moving & have been having several mega clearouts of all my crap. So Thursday I had a real clearout of my pc desk area, hundreds of old CD's, magazine cuttings, bits & bobs etc. IN all I filled my Escort Estate with 5 Blue bins & loads more. Took it all down the local dump, started dumping it in the relevent containers. Then next thing I know I have one of them going through my rubbish & then accusing me of dumping commercial waste because he found a 10+ year old bill for some work once done on someones computer. 1 piece of paper does not make "commercial waste". Apparently I'm to be reported to the EA, how I don't know as he did not take my name etc. Maybe he was just wanting to try & pressure me to get me to pay for it :D :D Grrr! if I get contacted about this, then if they are quick they can come round my house & see what else I will be dumping, it's certainly not commercial.

Bully boy, he wants reporting as he was harrassing you for no valid reason. Just hope your name and address wasn't on any of the papers you threw away :D Maybe it is a sign of things to come and we will only be able to take a couple of bags at a time without paying. Thought we were being encouraged to recycle, you should have had a rebate :D

Just a little off tack. If you do'nt have one I strongly hurge you to get a shreder, best thing we got in ages and we plonk anything with our name address or stuff that we do'nt want others getting hold of bills etc. It sounds stupid but people can get a lot of info from rubbish. A bloke called Bengy the binman makes a load of money going round the bins of famous people and selling on the info,it's funny untill someone gets a credit card with your name and runs up a bill then you get the blame.

Anything remotely usable for owt was ripped up. This one letter, from 10 years ago with name & address on that was a bill for wok done (the only time I actually ever made a bill) managed to slip through the net. How they
