Dark Side of the Moon is top album.

Dark Side of the Moon by legendary rock band Pink Floyd has been voted the nation's favourite album of all time.


The LP is one of the most successful releases ever and has sold more than 34 million copies worldwide and spent a total of 14 years in the top 200 of the American Billboard chart.

Last month, the group performed two tracks from the album, Breathe and Money, at anti-poverty concert Live 8 in London - their first performance together in 25 years. In the poll more than 15,000 listeners of the digital radio station Planet Rock voted for their favourite rock album.

Dark Side of the Moon is just one of four Pink Floyd albums in the top 30, with Wish You Were Here coming in at number four, The Wall at number 12 and Animals at number 25.

Led Zeppelin IV and Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous came in second and third place respectively.

Speaking about the results Planet Rock presenter Nicky Horne said: "Being a huge Pink Floyd fan, I found it almost impossible to choose the best from their catalogue.
"But you can't go wrong with Dark Side of the Moon. "I'm thrilled they are top of our pops."
