Galileo Thermometers

I had an accident on Saturday.

While cleaning the house (my turn) I accidentally knocked over my wifes 440mm thermometer.

Smashed instantly & there was clear oily stuff all over the place, especially on the oak sideboard & the carpet - EEK!

Luckily I managed to clean it off the carpet with a dry cloth (2' patch) and the sideboard the same although I had to re-oil the sideboard.
Can't tell now.

Apart from the missing thermometer.

She was not amused to say the least, :censored: stormed off to Boundary mill to see if she can get another, threatening to spend about £40 to replace it.
Luckily there were none there.

looking on the web they are indeed at about £40 for the 440mm coloured ones.

I managed to please her yesterday as when she came in from work I was finding one on the net, managed to find a site here that do it for under £9.

Now I just hope that it arrives in one piece so that calm can be restored to this house. :angel2:

I have replaced it like for like!
I just managed to get a damn good deal on it, well hopefully as it's yet to arrive.

Ah well, it arrived wahay...
The right size & everything... just the same as the old one.

Except one of the balls has smashed inside & it's leaked Blue liqued everywhere inside.

Oh dear, so rang them up & they are sending me anopther one, this one I can throw away.

Funny how it looks OK if you leave it on the window sill for a while & ignore the broken bit.

So what about the replacement.

Well here is that one, it's Red.


So I rang them & told them this too was broken & they said they would send another replacement.

Well the replacement came...


Although they have been brilliant about sending out replacements, 3 is a bit too many broken ones for me.

Although we have on on each window in the lounge & another on the sideboard, they do still sort of work.
However we would prefer proper unbroken ones.

With Red, Green & Blue ones I can make any colour now :)

Buying cheap does not always pay matty.

It's not the cheap that's the problem as they are ust the same ones as I would pay more for at say Boundary mill if they had the larger one in, it's the delivery companies that are damaging them through not keeping them upright when in the van etc.

The company have been very good each time & I believe that we are to get yet another, if that's broke then methinks we will be just asking for a steraight refund lol.
