Should the Police carry guns?

exactly. it really really really bugs me when people think that you should tolerate these people. i say shoot the b*stards. dont give them chance to get one over on us. these cleric dudes that are incitin all this, get em out of the country, or make them "fall down the stairs". i dont know why people in this country tolerate the fact that we are harbouring these people. they turn up at customs, after being refused in a dozen countries and we say, ok, come in. when we should be saying bugger off! if these people were not in the country, there would be absolutly no need for this discussion, as we would have no need for the police to have guns to protect us from these inhuman monsters. i bet im gunna get absolutly slated off ppl for saying all this, but i dont care, im entitled to my opinion!

i know.we have the same veiwpoint over this. i just wonder how many others think the same, or wether ppl will think im an extremist. tbh, i dont care, i feel passionatley about this subject, and ill fight my corner.

i didnt say shoot to kill did i.no. well whats your suggestion on how to stop a suspected terrorist? sit down with him/her over tea and buiscits, and try to tell him that hes wrong, and ask him ever so politley not to do it? coz that just aint gunna work is it?

Can see both points of view on guns - but voted yes
Unfortunately, Muppets from the 90's now have there own bloody awful sprogs runnin around dishin out abuse and vitriol and they all seem to want to be in an American style gang and look all hard and big - tis pathetic
The police might carry a little bit more respect to these tossers if they have a big gun
As for the Brazillian bloke - his visa ran out and he was over here, there had just been two bombings in London that fortnight, he was lookin suspiscious and failed to stop BUT RAN when a policeman with a big gun told him to stop - I WOULD HAVE STOPPED - THINK YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE DONE TOO - oh yeah, and did I forget to say he spoke good English too (as reported)
The shooting was a shame - BUT ESSENTIAL - it might make would-be terrorists think twice before acting! :santa:

If we were to have a trigger happy policeman doing the rounds i would prefer it to be rubber bullets or a tazzer gun that they were using. Just in case they shoot the wrong person, that way they would still be alive.

Totally agree with this an the fact that the police chasing him were plain clothed could of added to his confusion! I think the stun guns are a good idea in the right hands, must be also difficult for policing in the cities?

Ii cannot agree with police being armed at all times, this would lead to an increase in armed crime nationwide. Also there would be too many would be self styled Rambo's. Already there is too much use of force, anybody remember Blair Peach?.

Jaseyboy, you said in your last post "i didn't say shoot to kill did i". I think you should wake up, as are other people on this site i am ex military and guess what?. You are taught to SHOOT TO KILL!. What do you suggest they shout ? , Stop or i will shoot you in the leg?
What if an innocent person is killed, what do you say? oops sorry?.

On this topic, my question would be:
If Mr. Brazil HAD been a terrorist, and the police had NOT shot him, and he did then blow that tube train up - what would people have said????? They would have crucified the police for CAUSING the bombing
Truth is - there are arguments for and against! I think we should arm - but it is a close call

Well duh!, i think somebody watches too much Bruce Willis. So you are suggesting that the Police shoot somebody twice!!.

Think on this, it only costs 10p too take a life (the price of a 9mm bullet).

From the documentary last night on Suicide Bombers and the Iranians and their ideals,i say there should be more protection for our police officers.

Al Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri has warned Britain and the United States of more attacks, singling out London for the first time since suicide bombings on its transport system killed 52 people.

Need i say anymore?........i think not!!
