Default Bar-B-Q's!!!!!

It's that time of year for the barbie! We don't have a garden so we can't have em! Do you have em? Do you hate them? What things do you cook? I like going to BBQ's!
I'm thinking of getting one for Digsy's new house so what's the best ones to get? Whats the best way to light them?
So come on you tell me!

Now that we have a garden, we have the odd BBQ when the weather is just right.

Of course, er indoors has to prepare all the salad, the rolls & the drinks etc, I just have to burn the food on the BBQ & get to tell her "isn't it nice that you get a rest while I cook for a change" :D

As for lighting them, Don't put loads of paper screwed up in them to light them, it only winds up floating off all over the place if a wind takes it.
The lighter blocks seem the best, parrafin wax blocks that sit at the bottom & burn away helping to light the charcoal.

There are packs of charcoal that come in fuel impregnated bags that you just put the bag on & light the corner, these do well.
Asda do some bags of loose charcoal that's rather naff & hard to light.

Whatever, light them & let the charcoal burn till it's white & the flames have gone out before you start to cook, it lasts for ages once it's at that stage.

keep a bucket of water handy just in case... :D

eee, that's cheating... lol

But yes, they are a lot less mess, but it's just not the same. :-(

You don't get the mess on the burgers that you only get with real charcoal.

lol

Cool Re: Bar-B-Q's!!!!!

You could try banannas wrapped in bacon, my kids loved toasted marshmallows then you could dip them in melted choc, I marinade chicken in natural yogurt with added chilli, ginger and garlic the night before, it makes the chicken really tasty and You can just spoon it on thickly as it cooks I would like to buy a fish cooker and do fish. We dont have aposh barbeque just two small ones would love one of the stainless steel Greek ones that arent expensive and pretty basic!
