It might cut down on the scroungers that come here and bleed the taxpayers!!

I'm for them Matty! I just hope the cost will not be put on us,and you will need them to travel to certain countries anyway like the USA!
but in an ideal world we would'nt need them! :(

If it stops the scroungers than all be it..............but it shouldn't be dearer than a passport.
It wont stop any of those things, infact since its a centralised compulsory system fraud will be much easier. As for terrorism, Spain as ID cards and Madrid still happened there.

The problem is not the ID card per se, but an infrastructure which will allow the government and various agencies (including private companies) to gather all information about you onto a central database and use that information for whatever purposes they desire, and this is at your direct expense, through paying for the card and indirectly through taxes to pay for the £6 billion scheme.

Do you really trust government enough to have that sort of power over you and further still do it at your expense?

And then theres the issue that the system thus far as been said to be completely unable to function. There was a screening which showed the system only worked on 95% of the people; how can a national system fail to comprehend 5%/3 million of the populace?

It is mostly those who have something to hide that object to them. I welcome them. I am also willing to pay, but NOT £300

er no....

It is mostly those that who do not see how they can be effective that object to them.

Just because someone objects to these pathetic things does NOT mean that they have something to hide.
Having an ID card would not dig up the bodies buried under my patio :D

Ha Ha Matty................cops on their way to see you!!

Remember Jason is always watching.........lol

My view hasn't changed on this subject.............I'm already on a computer in quite a few places(dvla, doctors, isp, etc etc) and i get junk emails already so what difference would it make if other agencies got your information!!!!
If it cuts down on serious crime then i'm for it.
END OF!!

It will be interesting to see what happens now after the London bombs as to what new measures are brought in as well as ID cards,I think the Tories may have a re-think about them,I think weather we like em or not after whats happend they will be brought in much sooner.

I dont agree with the cost of obtaining them............we pay enough taxes and parking/speeding fines...lets use that........because they are not going into our roads!!
It should work as a passport as well so you wont need 2 different cards!!......keeping the cost down even more.

If we actually get them then it should be enabled so that it works for everything.
In fact eventually it just might.

You'll need it to get into the supermarket to buy a bottle of milk. :)
