 Old hobbies and pastimes! Do you remember bobbin work?- it was a wooden sewing bobbin that you threaded up with a strand of wool! On the top of the bobbin were four nails which you wove round and round to make finally a woven tube!using a pin too!  I used to make not sure what? Something completley useless, maybe a coaster though on reflection Only I saw a local lass making something similar this week in the playground instead of wool she was using very fine plastic tubing without the bobbin and pin! Probably the safety aspect?            |

| oh yes kiki ...i loved doing that when i was a kid... you wouldent be able to bang nails in bobbins today they arnt made of wood any more ,,,,,,,that was another pastime that cost nothing ,,, did you play top and whip...besides it beeing good fun.you coloured the top with coloured stripes of chalk to see who had the smartest,,,

| yes i did, and made fancy patterns! I loved roller-skates especially down hills alway,s had skimmed knees. I knew where all the birds nest were around Towneley , having an older brother i was a real tomboy! :jimbo: |

| lol i remember something similar to bobins when i was younger cant remember what they were though. roller skates yes i loved my skates then boots and my bmx lol

| BMX........I got my first bike which was a "striker".............then i got a "chopper"........fantastic!! Used to go down to St.Peters car park on my skateboard @ night.............lol |

| is it my imagination or was there a lot more snow years ago ,,i remember taking the kids sledgeing down healy hights .they had hours of fun..

| I dont think we can get snow in june.........but weirder things have happened.........lol Seriously though G.C you do have a point,i dont think we get snow like when i was a kid...........down to global warmer albeit. |

| And there was Macrame.. and guess what - it's back as scoobidous... Bobbins will be back before too long :D P.S. I had a chopper too, often used it for cycling to southend & Londonium... |

| The kids love to come and play with their Uncle Wayney! :) We have great games like watch the cans of lager being drunk,if they are good I let them put the cans in the bin!!!! :) Sleeping Tigers is a realy good cheap and fun game too! they pretend to be Tigers that are asleep FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!! :yelrotflm |
