Live 8! Is it a waste of time?????

Next month Bob Geldof and co are going to be holding concerts around the world to mark Live 8, this will be on the same time as the G8 hold it's shin dig! So will it do any good? Will Africa get any where? Or is it a gesture and nothing more?
What do you lot think? I'll make it a poll!

Me, I just think it will do nothing to help Africa,it will be a very nice day out but that's it,the best way to help Africa is to give proper aid,make sure the people get the aid,because if you don't you may just as well give EL Presidenty you money so he can build a new Palace! :(

I completely agree. I can't remember how much aid has already been given (I know it runs into trillions) and yet many parts of Africa are still starving. It almost all ends up in a corrupt government's pocket and not where it's needed.

Even worse, a country like Zimbabwe that used to not only feed itself but export food to other Afrtican countries is now making the whole stiaution worse by having become currupt and wasting their own resources.

Don't know what the solution is though

i think bob geldoff just wants to reinvent himself ..why dosent he,and his so called do gooders just each give a quarter of their wealth to the project ...money problem solved ,,,
i dont think having young kids hitch hiking to scotland is a good idea,especialy for young girls........

As has already been said about it, all the nice pics of them with women that were supposed to have benifited, where are those women now?
Most likely dead etc.

If money was spent properly, stopping the buggers that are ruining the country, then it might be well spent.

Otherwise it's just sending more for the coffers of those that are stealing it all.

Oh, but the odd little village that's used to publicise it may get a new well.

$250m usa are giving to africa

$50m to each of the 5 dictators for new houses and boats.

Every government in africa have taken our money and not put it where they should...........in the mouths of starving families.
I hope this concert will make some good,but not line the pockets of governments of africa............AGAIN!

buy them CONDOMS instaed of food ...that way when they stop breeding like rabbits they will have enough food for everyone...they go on and on about lack of food but it doesnt stop em having kids and still knowing that when they do they cant feed em ...i think that would be a great solution.....and as for gandolf and company ...how about picking their own pockets and paying out of their combined millions instaed of askin the likes of me to pay ............

What Zimbabwe needs is someone to tell the Yanks that they have discovered huge deposits of oil. It does'nt matter if its true( as in the weapons of mass destructionin in Iraq).. The Yanks will start by invading and getting rid of the despots who are in charge, then start pouring money into the country

Not missed too much.....it was quiet for most the daytime
