| http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4610755.stm How long before they stick a chip in our brains and tattoo a barcode on our heads? If there was a good alternative to using cars we'd already be using it. This is just a way of screwing even more money out of us.:(

| This will more than likely be in addition to road tax etc. It's a stupid idea, as are any other car journey control ideas until they actually sort out the public transport system. I can "guarantee" you that it WILL be bypassed, modified or disabled in some way & that that information will be kept secret until I tell you it :D Possible alteration of boxes to give out different details will also be an option to those clever enough to know how. So not only will we have a mega database with everyones details in, they will also know where we drive & coming later on will be the subdermal implant that tells BB everything you are doing & thinking. better go now, they are at the door waiting to get me. |

| I think it is a pathetic idea, not just because 'big brother' is watching but also it will be unfair. Last year i fished one of the top venues in Britain, this meant driving to Hampshire, motorway all the way this would have cost about £364.50 each way at the proposed rates. Definately not a good idea. Judging by their timetable for the trial run, this issue alone will win the tories votesin the next election, they must be rubbing their hands with glee. ![]() |

| It sounds great in theory but it will just mean rich folk can drive in the fast lane poor folk will have to struggle on the cheaper road! As some of you say big brother will be following soon! Then what??? How about a blackbox in my fridge? It could tell the Doc how much I eat and drink! No thanks!!!!! :whack: |

| [quote=wayneyboy1942]It sounds great in theory but it will just mean rich folk can drive in the fast lane poor folk will have to struggle on the cheaper road! i can not see that mate as the destination from a-b is monitored via satalite which means they know where you have been and what time you was at the destination and the time it took you from a-b (1minute-2minute or more)then you can recieve a speeding penalty through your door a fine and points without having speading past a road-side camera or the hiding policeman..freedom is no longer.the only difference between a convict in prison and us on the outside is we have freedom.(but soon that will be taken) |

| And we will be able to hack into the database & tell that the wife was off somewhere she ought not to be at 3:30 on a Monday.. lol It's a farce, hopefully the government will have changed by then & the newer one will reverse it all. Ol Alister Darling ought to have a look at himself in the mirror, he looks as farcical as his ideas. |

| It soulds like an expensive way of doing things, I mean how much is it going to cost to kit everybody out with a black box? No doubt we will have to foot the bill to be spyed on! To me it just sounds like a sneaky way of raising more revenue AND having the infrastructure (along with ID cards), to keep an eye on us. It will force people to use minor roads more, in effect clearing the motorways for the rich.

| exactly col. why should we have to pay to be spyed on. next year i can learn to drive, but wen they introduce this, its gunna cost a packet, n young ppl just wont be able to foot the bill. but witht the 10-15 yrs it will takefor it to be implimenteed, i just hope they see sense and forget the whole thing, and bury it in the same coffin as the eu constitution! |

| Just give us a bit of notice before head out onto the roads Jasey! lol. On the subject of young drivers, there was some daft woman on the radio yesterday on about not letting anyone under the age of 24 be allowed to drive!!! This was because she'd looked at the statistics and found that a third of all road accidents were caused by under 24 yr olds. Talk about tarring everyone with the same brush! Having people learn to drive later will only delay the process - they will still have accidents - stupid bint! I've had my licence since I was about 19 and only had one accident - I was driven into by a taxi driver - he drove off I think young drivers are given a bad name by a few idiots - I saw one the other day, young lad on a moped doing wheelies up centenary way showing off to his mates in a corsa - I was quite impressed at his ability to pull a wheelie on an auto moped, but it wasn't the best place to do it.
